New Member, Juliet Thomas, who runs a multi-passionate small business called The Curious Creative Club, was featured in Prima Magazine last month in an article all about the rise of popularity of She Sheds during lockdown. Juliet and her husband Mark, built what Juliet likes to call The Curious Cabin last September, not only as a lockdown project, but also as a reward for getting through a tough 6 months of chemo treatment, following being diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in November 2019.

The local accountability membership group, WOW Wednesdays celebrated it's 2nd Birthday in June, following a tough year supporting it's members through the pandemic. WOW Wednesdays, founded by chamber member Juliet Thomas of The Curious Creative Club and Clair Wright of A Social Nature, began life as a simple idea to support another small business at the time, Mirriam's Kitchen Table in Kirkburton, in bringing customers into the cafe when it was quiet on a Wednesday, hence the name.
Yorkshire-based manufacturer, Thurston Group, has raised over £10,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support after putting together a cycling team to cycle the equivalent of London to Paris throughout the month of May. Covering around 250 miles, the team aimed to raise £5000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. After smashing their target halfway through, the team has managed to raise well over £10,000 for the charity in just one month.
One of the largest independent accountants in West Yorkshire, Jolliffe Cork, have merged with South Yorkshire-based Sutton McGrath Hartley (SMH). The merger took place in May 2021, with Jolliffe Cork becoming SMH Jolliffe Cork and continuing to operate out of their existing premises on George Street, Wakefield.
