Over 50 local businesses joined The Kirkwood for their first ever Business Movement event last night, packing out Empire House in Slaithwaite for an early evening in support of people in our community affected by a life limiting illness.
We were delighted to welcome Kirklees based businesses to the launch event of The Kirkwood Business Movement yesterday evening.
Held in partnership with Empire House, in Slaithwaite, the event marked the first official live event for The Kirkwood Business Movement. The early evening soiree brought like-minded people from dozens of prestigious businesses across our community together and take advantage of a rare chance to meet colleagues and friends face to face.
Catered by Guest Dining, the event was also a chance for businesses supporting The Kirkwood to find out more about the Business Movement, develop connections with one another and hear from existing members about why they are part of the Movement.
The evening proved a huge success, with businesses from across Kirklees joining The Kirkwood team and celebrating not only the launch of an exciting new venture, but the chance to be part of a true movement for good, made up of people from across Kirklees who believe, just like The Kirkwood, that we can achieve so much more for local people in need when we work together.
We were delighted to welcome representatives from the founding members of The Kirkwood Business Movement, including Acomm, Paxman Scalp Cooling, Redbak and Ridley and Hall Solicitors, alongside many local businesses who were keen to find out more.
Jess Lees, Business Development Manager with The Kirkwood, said: “To have so many people, from so many prominent local businesses give up their time to join us for our very first event was fantastic. It shows how passionate our community is about what happens to people affected by a life limiting illness here in Kirklees.
“It was great to see so many businesses come together after such a long time, to celebrate the care our teams provide for anyone affected by a life limiting illness in every corner of our community and find out how their support will make a huge difference.
“Like us, these businesses are passionate about making sure that, here in Kirklees, people have access to the very best care and support. When and where they need it.
“I’d particularly like to thank all the members who have already signed up to be part of our movement – we couldn’t have got to this point without their support.”
The Kirkwood Business Movement was founded in early 2021, joining together local organisations who are committed to Supporting Life for anyone affected by a life limiting illness in Kirklees.
In return for becoming a member of our Movement, businesses have the opportunity to become part of our Support Life Network, attend networking and social events throughout the year with other members and know they are helping families affected by a life limiting illness in their communities.
