Huddersfield, February 2020: Thornton & Ross, part of the STADA Group, has become the UK’s number one adult cough liquid manufacturer for the first time in its history.
Figures published by the international data provider IRI show that sales of Thornton & Ross’ brands Covonia, Care and Allens reached almost 1 million litres in the year to 25th January 2020.
Sales of the Covonia range were driven in part by an award-winning ‘Ride the Bull, feel the power’ advertising campaign that included digital, TV and social media, with plans in place to increase the market share further throughout 2020.
Care is the number one brand sold through UK pharmacy, with a product sold every 1.7 seconds. The brand offers a comprehensive range of over-the-counter products from cough and cold remedies to skincare.
Allens attracts a loyal customer base through its long-standing use as a traditional herbal remedy for coughs and colds.
