The RSPCA Halifax, Huddersfield, Bradford & District alongside St Marks Church, Longwood are introducing a brand-new Animal Blessing Service to celebrate the local animal centre’s RSPCA month. The blessing will take place at 3.00-3.45pm on Sunday 20th October at St Marks Church, St Marks Road, Longwood, Huddersfield, HD3 4SZ.
All creatures great and small are invited to join in the service, which celebrates the special bond we have with our pets and animals.
Fay Gibbons, Community Fundraiser at the local RSPCA branch said “We’re really delighted to be able to bring an animal blessing service to Huddersfield and St Marks’ really is such a beautiful church in stunning grounds. The service is a unique way to come together and celebrate how much we love and care for our beloved animals and we hope the local community and their pets will join us for what is sure to be a beautiful service”.
All animals are invited to attend the service, but the branch and church ask that all dogs are kept on leads and that small animals (such as cats, rabbits and other small furries) are kept safe by remaining in pet carriers. If owners have lost their pets, or would find it too difficult to bring their pet along, a photograph can also be brought along for a blessing.
The local animal centre is self-funded and is hoping to raise awareness of the animal welfare work it does within the Halifax, Huddersfield, Bradford and district areas, all proceeds raised on the day will be split between the branch and the church.
