Schofield Sweeney advises Barclays on rapid refinance of Historic Grade II Listed Building

Manjit Virdee, Partner at Schofield Sweeney with assistance from Abigail Falshaw, Solicitor, advised S & M Real Estate Limited, S M Real Estate (Residential) Limited and Barclays on a multi-million pound refinance and capital raise in respect of the iconic Grade II Listed Britannia Buildings on St George’s Square in the heart of Huddersfield.

The building, which was built in the late 1800s, compromises a mixed use of commercial space and 24 residential flats and is known for its architecture and prominent location next to Huddersfield train station.

The transaction was the first part of the Groups strategic long-term plans to invest in Huddersfield and local surrounding areas.
