IT Director no longer pie in the sky for SMEs

Paul Heigham, MD of Bellingham IT, has developed an IT Director service that SMEs can call off when they need it to provide strategy, advice and help with implementation and it’s proving a winner with customers, so much so he is launching it nationally.

Paul, has worked in IT for more than 20 years at the heart of major corporations, mostly in food manufacturing and understands better than most the value of top quality technology, skilled people and qualitative data. He has seen many SMEs fail to achieve their real potential because they lack sufficient IT budget.

“What has been lacking from many companies is the strategic direction at the start of the process to identify what is needed and then partnership to implement it,” he said. “SMEs don’t have budget for a full time IT Director, but their need is as great as a large corporation and they can benefit far more than larger companies.

“We developed the IT Director package to embed the strategy and then work alongside companies as they roll it out. Because the IT Director is not a full time employee it is affordable,” he added.

“The IT Director can help with management systems and people, advise on investment of technology and training to get the most from it, analyse and protect the company’s data and systems from the threat of cyber attack and align the businesses IT functions with its business needs and goals.

“We have attended board meetings and worked on premises, but we have also worked remotely so that customers further afield can contact us 24/7 when issues arise,” he said. “The real value of the service is that they have all the benefits of their own IT director, without the costs,” he said.

“With offices at Unity Works, Wakefield, Bellingham IT is uniquely placed for clients around Wakefield District but also the rest of West Yorkshire and they are attracting attention from further afield.

“Clients have quickly realised how much value it has brought them simply by organizing their IT systems to deliver the information they need, when they need it. The main benefits for SMEs are improving business productivity, seizing the competitive advantage, boosting supply chain efficiency and integrating stakeholders into the company’s existing system safely and securely.

“In a 21st century fast moving business environment having access to IT strategy shouldn’t be a nice to have for any ambitious SME,” he added.
