Eaton Smith LLP has appointed Mike Webb, Head of Dispute Resolution and Employment Law, as their new Senior Partner. The appointment follows the retirement of Andrew Sugden who stood down as Senior Partner as of 31 March 2016. Andrew will remain with the firm as a consultant.
Mike Webb has been a Partner at Eaton Smith since 1985. He
deals with and supervises all aspects of commercial litigation, matrimonial
property and employment related disputes. Mike specialises in complex
contractual disputes and, in relation to individual clients, he is also an
experienced litigator in the field of inheritance, cohabitation and estate
disputes.
Mike commented: “I am absolutely delighted to be appointed to the role of Senior Partner. I firmly believe this is an exciting time for Eaton Smith and our brand and profile sees continuous growth. The firm has great momentum and I believe we have a strong Management Board who will guide the firm to the next stage of development. Andrew has been a fantastic Senior Partner, colleague and friend and we all wish him well in his retirement.”
Andrew joined Eaton Smith in 2000 and was appointed Senior Partner 2010. He studied law at Downing College, Cambridge and qualified as a solicitor in 1974. Well-known in the local community, Andrew was secretary of Huddersfield Incorporated Law Society for three years and its president in 1998. Andrew’s particular area of legal expertise lies in childcare and criminal work. Commenting on his career, Andrew said “I have seen many changes in the legal profession over the last forty years and I feel privileged to have met, advised and assisted clients in all walks of life in that time. I have very much enjoyed my time at Eaton Smith and I wish them well for the future.”
