Looking to get fit this January? Chamber member, Huddersfield Community Trust are launching a unique range of free 8 week programmes, exclusive to ladies. The programme which starts on Tuesday 12th January aims to encourage local women to kick-start a healthier lifestyle and to change unhealthy habits. The sessions incorporate a range of fun taster sessions of different exercises and sports.
Get Active is an 8 week programme taking place at The Zone HCT off St. Andrew Road and is led by Huddersfield Community Trust, the charity that co-ordinates community delivery on behalf of local professional sports clubs Huddersfield Giants and Huddersfield Town.
The programme is funded through a successful bid to Sport England by a consortium led by Kirklees Active Leisure to the Community Sport Activation Fund. This element delivered by Huddersfield Community Trust will mean that is will be free to all participants.
The programme offers activity taster sessions, weight management advice and support to women aged over 16 years who would like to lose weight, become fitter, healthier and get into shape for the summer.
The first female Get Active programme aimed at women over 16, started on 9th September 2014 and ran for eight weeks with attendees losing a total of 99lbs over the length of the course. Huddersfield Community Trust is now currently delivering its fifth programme and is FREE for attendees with their being limited spaces available.
Katy Moorhouse who took part in a previous Get Active programme commented: “The sessions were very informative, and it has certainly made me think about how I can improve my own health and fitness, along with losing a bit of weight and the odd inch here and there. I found the taster fitness sessions fun, despite a few aches and pains. I am hoping to join the pom sessions when I return from my holiday. I have really enjoyed myself and the company has been great too.”
All sessions take place at the fantastic indoor facility at The Zone HCT which has large female changing rooms and a café. For further information or to register your interest on the eight week course please firstname.lastname@example.org call 01484 484 134.
