Following on the success of the UK Cyber Security Clusters, the Yorkshire Cyber Security Cluster (YCSC) will launch in September.
The cluster, which has been set up by Chamber member Bob's Business Ltd, is an initiative which will help SME's within the cyber security field to work collaboratively to build and increase information security knowledge, provide a networking platform to share ideas and best practice, and form an alliance that will enable members to deliver high value contracts.
The Yorkshire Cluster hopes to follow in the footsteps of the Malvern Cluster which has grown its network to over 80 companies, all specialising in this area.
The UK Government National Cyber Security strategy aims to make the UK one of the most secure places in the world to do business in and to derive huge economic and social value from a vibrant, resilient and secure cyberspace. With support and encouragement from government bodies such as The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS), cyber security clusters provide a platform for small businesses in this sector to gain wider profile within the UK Cyber Strategy.
The first Yorkshire Cyber Security meeting is taking place in Barnsley on the 2nd September 2015 at 11:30 - 13:30, with a keynote address from a senior government representative. If you are a small company working in this sector, you can register your interest here or contact Bob's business here.
