Member’s triathlon success for apprentice charity

Published 11th Aug 2015 by Rachel McDerby

Brighouse-based Martin Haigh of training and development member company Lattitude7 completed the London triathlon last Sunday.

Raising awareness and more than £1,000 (including gift aid) for Calderdale charity, Working Wonders, Martin took just over 3 hours in the capital’s fundraiser. It included a 1,500m swim in Royal Victoria Dock which Martin did in 45 minutes, followed by a 1 hour 26 minute 40km cycle and finally a 10km run round the Excel Centre which he completed in just under an hour.

Martin is also a coach and director for the Halifax-based charity set up in 2013 to help young people across Calderdale into employment. Since the charity’s formation, more than 50 young people have been supported into employment and 27 of these into apprenticeships. This has led to a number of permanent jobs in a variety of companies across Calderdale.

Martin would like to reach £1500 which will pay a year’s salary for an apprentice into employment. Donations are still gratefully received. To donate visit https://localgiving.com/fundraising/working-wonders and for more information on Lattitude7 see www.lattitude7.co.uk.
