Wakefield-based member the National Coal Mining Museum has been awarded a certificate of excellence from Trip Advisor.

The world’s largest travel site of user generated review content has awarded the Museum as a direct result of its consistently great reviews from Trip Advisor travellers.

With more than 950 excellent and very good reviews, the Museum rates as number one in the ‘top things to do in Wakefield’ category.

Top reviews are sure to continue with a jam-packed May half-term schedule, where there will be a range of free family activities from 25th – 29th May for all ages. The Museum is going bird crazy this week with a bird trail around the 45 acre site, and craft activities with the education team.

Visitors can of course also explore 140m underground in the Museum, the only of it’s kind in England, with an ex-miner guide, pre booking is recommended by calling 01924 848806.

There’s sure to be a range of tasty treats on offer in the Museum’s café too, recently opened by local business Asparagus Green Catering.
