Published 8th May 2015 by Rebecca Walker

Wakefield-based member the National Coal Mining Museum is urging fellow members who have visited the museum with their families to vote in the Telegraph Kids in Museums Family Friendly Museum Awards before the closing date on Sunday (10th May).

The Museum has a wealth of experiences to offer families, whether that be parents and their children or carers, guardians, grandparents aunties, uncles or friends! The Museum boasts a 45 acre accessible site, brand new Asparagus Green Catering café, 140m underground tour, nature trail, under 5s play area, play ground and endless galleries to explore – all absolutely FREE. The Museum also offers a range of activities throughout school holidays including crafting, an on-site train and various themed site trails.

Wacky Wednesdays encourages parents and carers to come along with their under 5s for free crafting, singing, story telling and exploring every Wednesday in term-time for under 5s, again all FREE, with a newly introduced Mini Miner Monday’s for organised child-care groups at just £2 per child.

Have you visited with your family? Please vote via www.kidsinmuseums.org.uk/awards/ and help a fellow member strive at what it does best – offering family friendly fun to all ages.
