Hipperholme Grammar Junior School began 2015 with a new Headteacher, following the retirement of Mrs Louise Reynolds who had led the School for 6 years.
The appointment of Mrs Sarah Weller, previously Head of Key Stage 2, heralds a new dawn for the local Independent School, which is due to celebrate its 100 year anniversary.
Speaking of her appointment, Mrs Weller said, "I am delighted to take up the Headship after a long and happy teaching career at Hipperholme Grammar Junior School (HGJS). With Mrs Reynolds and our talented team of staff, parents and pupils, we have created a unique learning environment, combining small class sizes and excellent teaching with traditional values. However, we are focussed on the future and this is the beginning of a new chapter which I am excited to be part of. Education is a journey and using our initials, I have introduced a new School motto which I feel is significant of the approach here at HGJS: Here Great Journey's Start!"
Mrs Weller, who grew up in Brighouse, still lives in the town with her husband and two teenage children. After leaving Brighouse Girls Grammar School, she gained a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of
Leeds, but her study of education and teaching practice took place in and around Scarborough.
"I still like to visit Scarborough and have fond memories of my time there," continued Mrs Weller, "In fact, the whole family welcomed in the New Year by watching fireworks on the beach at North Bay. It felt special to be
celebrating this new phase of my teaching career in the town where it all began."
All the staff, parents and pupils at the School wish Mrs Weller many happy years in her new role and success in leading the children on their exciting learning journey.
