Published 26th Nov 2014 by Rebecca Walker

A new website which provides advice and information has been launched to support businesses across Calderdale, and those looking to locate in the area. This website aims to raise the profile of Calderdale, attract inward investment and support local businesses.

www.calderdalebusinessfirst.co.uk has been developed through the collaboration of four key organisations within the borough including; The Chamber, Calderdale Council, Calderdale CollegeThe Elsie Whiteley Innovation Centre and Hebden Bridge-based creative design company Russell Horn created the site.

Steven Leigh, Head of Policy and Representation at The Chamber said: “Our aim is to provide a one-stop portal for Business Support in Calderdale and promote the Borough as a vibrant and dynamic place to do business. The website has been especially designed to facilitate an easy-to-use resource for Calderdale businesses and potential inward investors by offering a comprehensive range of support and information sources for organisations of all types and sizes. It is essential that we maximise opportunities in Calderdale to promote investment, job-creation and sustainable economic growth.”

Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Economy, Cllr Peter Caffrey, said: “Calderdale is a great place to do business, there’s so much potential for businesses to locate and to flourish here, and we’re working hard to promote Calderdale as a business destination. The Calderdale Business First site contains useful information whether businesses are just starting out or looking to expand, making it a useful resource.

Calderdale is a great place to do business. In our latest business survey, nearly 90% of firms said they want to stay in the borough and need help to grow. There are sites with so much potential – by unlocking them we'll create an environment where businesses can viably expand or relocate. This boosts confidence in Calderdale, encourages businesses to stay, attracts inward investment and creates jobs.”

The new site will make it easier for businesses to access the information and resource they need to grow their operations, find out what support is available and discover more about what Calderdale has to offer.
