On Saturday 5th July in Yorkshire, whilst the rest of the region were all awaiting Le Grand Depart, Events Coordinator Sam Melton spent the last few days keeping an keen eye on the weather forecast as The National Coal Mining Museum was to host its first commercial wedding.
Local couple Vicky and Andy had a fondness for the museum and were a dream to work with. Vicky knew exactly how she wanted her everything to look and then it was then a museum team effort to add those special touches to give them a both perfect and unique wedding day.
After a slightly grey start the clouds parted and the sun shone brightly to greet the bridal party up at the beautiful Hope Pit. The Grimethorpe Youth brass band struck up tunes old and new whilst guests enjoyed a sparkling reception.
Finn, the handsome Clydesdale horse, was groomed and looking splendid with everyone wanting a photo opportunity. Once guests had had their fill of fizz train Driver, John, announced ‘all aboard’ and guests giggled with excitement to ride the mine train back down to the Caphouse Suite for a good old Yorkshire wedding breakfast and party. Certainly a day and summer to remember!
