Monday 2nd June sees the start of the second Wakefield Business Week with the established and successful Wakefield Business Conference at the centrepiece on Wednesday 4th June at Cedar Court Hotel, Wakefield.

This year Wakefield Business Conference will present the exciting opportunity for a selection of Wakefield College events management students to get involved to gain practical industry experience.

The conference will provide the chance for the students to gain first hand experience of working on a large scale event behind the scenes with Chamber staff throughout the day. Students will have the chance to interact with hundreds and hundreds of business owners and directors, to assist in the exhibition hall and oversee key seminars taking place.

Sam Wright Principal of Wakefield College said: “This is a great opportunity for students to gain quality experience of the conferencing and events industry. As well as adding to their experience, exposure to the diverse community of businesses within Wakefield will certainly fire their imaginations”

Executive Director of the Chamber Andrew Choi commented: “The Chamber recognises that in order to support local business we need to ensure we create every opportunity to assist the young people of Wakefield in developing skills through experiential learning. We’re really excited about this venture with Wakefield College students in helping them gain valuable work experience at the biggest business event in the Wakefield district; we’re hoping this can be the start of a scheduled programme that can grow year on year.”

Throughout the business week from 2nd to 6th June there will be more than 30 seminars hosted by experts across the district. The business week will also incorporate “Meet the Leader” events, presenting a rare opportunity to get behind the scenes of the most prominent organisations in the district; Coca Cola, The National Coal Mining Museum and The Ridings shopping centre to name just a few.
