Over 125 local business-people and professional gathered recently at Greenhead Masonic Hall for Patrons Wheawill & Sudworth's (W&S) 2014 Budget Report.

The firm’s Tax Partner, Colin Barratt, highlighted some major new changes to the ways in which retirees can access their pension savings. “The relaxation in the rules is a very unexpected but welcome development to help encourage longer-term saving” he commented.

Guest speaker Jon Wyn-Evans, Strategist at Investec Wealth & Investment, provided a global economic over-view including thoughts on how an independent Scotland might pan out.

A major tax boost for capital investment and further tax breaks for R&D projects were analysed by W&S Managing Director David Butterworth. “This is further good news for local businesses looking to build and invest for the future” he added.
