Published 28th Mar 2014 by Rebecca Greenhough

Member Huddersfield Town has today confirmed a sparkling new partnership with Standard Fireworks aimed at increasing safety around Bonfire Night.

Standard Fireworks, which was established in 1891 and still has its UK sales, marketing, warehousing and distribution base in Crosland Hill, Huddersfield, has teamed up with ‘The Yorkshire Club’ to work on an exciting schools initiative during the build-up to 5 November.

Huddersfield Town’sCommercial Director Sean Jarvis and Commercial Events Executive Katie Barraclough made the short journey to Crosland Hill to meet Standard Fireworks’ Austin Brown and Diane Downs to sign the new deal.

Sean explained: “We’re delighted to sign this new partnership agreement with a Huddersfield-based, industry-leading brand in Standard Fireworks. “Standard Fireworks has seen all the work the Club is doing in the community and wants to join us in making a difference ahead of Bonfire Night, which is obviously an exciting yet challenging day in their calendar.
“Together we’re going to utilise our excellent links within local schools through our flourishing Schools Partnership scheme to raise awareness of firework and Bonfire Night safety in the run-up to 5 November. “I think it’s admirable that Standard Fireworks puts such emphasis on its social responsibility and I believe we can help them considerably.”

Standard Fireworks was purchased by China-based Black Cat Fireworks in 1998, but is still based at its 100+ acre site at Crosland Hill, Huddersfield that it moved to in 1910.

Austin Brown, General Manager of Standard Fireworks. “We are really pleased and excited about the opportunity to have this partnership with Huddersfield Town. “For more than 100 years we have both played a key part in the Huddersfield community, bringing lots of entertainment and excitement to both the pitch and the skies above. We are now looking forward to working with the team at Huddersfield Town to further our work and contribution within the local community and helping support the Club to become Yorkshire’s number one.”
