New Year's resolutions to help your business prosper in 2014

Published 7th Jan 2014 by Rebecca Greenhough

It's the start of a new year and a chance to start reevaluating your business goals. Utilise these handy new year's resolutions to improve your business this year.

Make the best use of your membership of the Chamber:

As a Chamber member you have access to a range of free marketing opportunities through Member Offer of the Month,Connect Card and members news on our website and in Close Up for Business.

Join us at networking events and get your brand out there across Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield at MY Network, Last Friday Club and Connections Count.

You can also attend our 60 Useful Minutes training events to get clued up on a variety of topics for free as a member.

Get more involved with social media

Social media boomed in 2013 and it's a fantastic free marketing tool open to anybody with access to the internet.

Your business could be online within minutes tweeting, liking and sharing with businesses around the world. There is a platform for every business, Facebook and Pinterest are better for visual companies such as printers and designers. YouTube is great for visuals also, we film our networking events to give members a place to review our events and include case studies of what our members really think.

Twitter is great for getting the word out there quickly in just 140 characters, tweet at events, tweet your news or re-tweet interesting items to your followers.

Reward your staff this year

Your staff are the reason your business is running, and all employees deserve a pat on the back for their hard work. Staff health benefits are a great tool for retention of staff and reduction of absenteeism. Westfield Health is an employee benefits health scheme, and is part of your Chamber membership from as little as £1.10 per employee.

Reduce your costs

Resolve to reduce your business costs this year. Members receive reduced energy costs with Orchard Environmental, meeting room and conference facilities in our Huddersfield and Wakefield rooms and the Chamber Childcare scheme can allow you to save over £400 per employee on National Insurance contributions.

From all at the Chamber, we wish you a prosperous new year. To get connected, get supported and have your say on business issues that matter, join your Chamber today.
