GB Projects Ltd get energy efficient for Winter

Published 14th Jan 2014 by Rebecca Greenhough

Dewsbury based member and bespoke and contract furniture manufacturer, GB Projects Ltd have invested in technology to reduce their environmental impact this Winter.

As the company has grown, so too has the amount of production waste created, and after spending hundreds of pounds a week disposing of wood waste in skips, it became clear a more environmentally friendly solution was necessary. In September 2013 GB Projects Ltd made the decision to purchase a wood waste furnace and the benefits have been even better than expected.

Since the purchase the company hasn't had a single skip collected. All production waste is fed into their T500 Talbotts furnace, the heat produced is vented into the factory, keeping staff warm, and in turn,  reducing the gas bill.

The furnace required an extension to be built which has also given more space to handle increased production. It is one of many steps GB Projects Ltd have taken to reduce their overall impact on the environment and overheads.

Other improvements include a purpose built dust extraction system that removes dust from all machinery within the factory and then returns warm air. GB Projects Ltd aim to continue making improvements in 2014; take a look at their website, Facebook page and blog for more information.
