Support small businesses this Saturday

Published 3rd Dec 2013 by Rebecca Walker

We are urging local people to support Small Business Saturday. The international campaign is aimed at promoting the ‘shop local’ initiative and will be held on 7th December the busiest shopping day of the UK year.

Small Business Saturday is recognised as a commercial holiday in America and generated $5.5 billion in sales last year. It is a fantastic opportunity for small businesses to promote themselves and increase awareness of their business.

There are 4.8 million small businesses in the UK and more than 14 million people work in them.

We are therefore encouraging residents and small businesses in the area to get behind the campaign and help their local economy.

Andrew Choi, Chamber Executive Director commented, “Small businesses are a huge part of the local community and the campaign offers the perfect opportunity to show support for businesses locally.”

Find out more about the campaign on the Small Business Saturday website and download a free pack to take part.

To get supported, get connected and have your say on business issues that matter, join your Chamber, from as little as 41p a day.
