Security Firm Recruiting due to Record Completion of Apprenticeship

Published 29th Oct 2013 by Rebecca Walker

Wakefield security firm and Chamber member Calder Security is recruiting again due to its apprentice, Jordan Gorner, completing his training in record time!

Jordan has been an apprentice engineer at the company since 2011 and is now ready to manage his own jobs and take up his position as a fully qualified engineer. This means that there is now a vacancy for a new apprentice.

An apprenticeship usually takes at least 3 years yet Jordan, 21, has completed it 6 months short of this time. This is a fantastic achievement that demonstrates Jordan’s determination and talent for the job as well as the standard of training and development that Calder Security has provided.

Simon Cook, MD of Calder Security said:

"Jordan has proved himself and become an asset to the company. His completion of the apprenticeship has come just at the right time for us; the business is growing so rapidly that having another engineer available will add real value. We’re now looking forward to taking on a new apprentice and training them up in the way we do things here at Calder. Having an apprentice is not a quick way to grow the team but we feel that the process is invaluable in creating engineers that have the specific blend of skills, knowledge and attitude that we want."

Jordan will shortly start light duties out in his own van and will continue to be reviewed and mentored to make sure he has all the support he needs during this transition period.

In the meantime Calder Security would like to invite applications for the new apprentice role. No experience is necessary, they’re mainly looking for someone who is keen to learn, understands the importance of punctuality and taking direction and is interested in starting a career as an electronics engineer.

The prospects for the right candidate are very good; the majority of staff have been with the company for 7 years or longer and it is fully intended that the apprentice will qualify and continue to work at the company for the long term. The company has grown considerably this year and has so far appointed 2 new members of staff and promoted another internally.

Jordan added:

"I’d strongly recommend anyone who has an interest in engineering to apply for this position. I’ve learned so much and the support and on the job training has been fantastic. I’m now looking forward to taking on my own jobs and consolidating all the learning I’ve undertaken over the last couple of years."

Anyone who is interested in applying for the role should send their CV to Simon Cook at simon@caldersecurity.co.uk or send it to Calder Security Ltd, 8A Calder Vale Road, Wakefield WF1 5PE. Further details about the role are available on the website www.caldersecurity.co.uk
