It's Wakefield Works Week Next Week

Published 8th Oct 2013 by Rebecca Greenhough

As your local Chamber of Commerce we're supporting Wakefield Works Week next week from 14th - 18th October.

We represent, support and connect Wakefield businesses, as well as businesses within Kirklees and Calderdale and we're pleased to once again support Wakefield Works Week. The week is aimed at tackling the high level of unemployment in 18 -25 year olds across the district. The week will take place between the 14th and the 18th October where businesses from across the district will be opening their doors to young people, helping them to gain valuable work experience.

For one week only, local employers throughout Wakefield will meet young individuals who have a genuine desire for and an interest in finding work placements, seeking career guidance and exploring job opportunities with the potential of one week’s work experience and/or the possibility of permanent employment.

Our Chief Executive Andrew Choi committed the Chamber to supporting Wakefield Works 2013 and added 'When we got involved last year it was on the back of particularly bad unemployment figures for young people in the district and there is every reason to remain focused on this problem once again. I hope all member companies, and Wakefield businesses in general, will support what we’re trying to do and get involved in this great private sector initiative to help young people gain jobs through interview and work experience."

Young people can register their interest online on the Wakefield Works Week website but hurry as it's only open to register until tomorrow, you can also follow the week on Twitter.

To make sure you get supported, connected and have your say on business issues that matter join your local Chamber today and follow us on Twitter.
