Second Annual Dinner 2013 Speaker Announced

Published 21st Aug 2013 by Rebecca Greenhough

We're excited to announce the second speaker of our 2013 Annual Dinner as Lazy Camper entrepreneur, Jacob Hill.

The Annual Dinner is to be held on 17th October at the Cedar Court hotel, Ainley Top. We're excited to announce our second speaker as young entrepreneur and Huddersfield University student, Jacob Hill.

Entrepreneur Jacob Hill, from Huddersfield, has been chosen to deliver the business speech for the ‘enterprise’ themed Annual Dinner. Jacob shot to entrepreneurial recognition in February 2012 with his invention of the Lazy Camper; a complete outdoors kit with everything needed for camping in one bag, perfect for festivals.

Alongside running his business, Jacob also studies Enterprise Development at the University of Huddersfield, endorsed by Dragons’ Den star Theo Paphitis. He has recently been announced as one of 12 winners to receive the Duke of York Young Entrepreneur Awards and visited Buckingham Palace to receive the award from the Duke, now a patron of the University of Huddersfield.

Clare Frisby has already been announced as the first speaker for the event. Clare is most well known as appearing on BBC Look North every weekday and will act as compere at the dinner.

Chief Executive Director Andrew Choi told us "Huddersfield born Jacob is the epitome of a young entrepreneur, and is therefore the perfect speaker for our enterprise themed 2013 Annual Dinner. He’s young and ambitious and in an era where young people are finding it more difficult than ever to find work, we look forward to hearing how his hard work, creativity and determination has got him to where he is today".

Last year our Annual Dinner was attended by almost two hundred local business people in an Olympic themed evening following the successful sporting year for team GB and most impressively team Yorkshire!

The event will be the key evening dinner held within Kirklees Business Week, with Kirklees Business Conference on Wednesday 16th October at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Furthermore, we're a key partner at this year’s conference and are offering an exclusive £100 discount to members that wish to exhibit.

Tickets to the Annual Dinner are priced at £50.00 to Chamber members and £65.00 to non members and booking is now available here.
