MY Export Hub Urge Companies to Explore New Markets

Published 13th Aug 2013 by Rebecca Greenhough

MY Export Hub, is our international trade support arm and they're urging local businesses, like yours, to consider exploring new overseas markets as a route to growth.

Britain’s trade deficit rose to its highest level in six months in June and the UK has the largest goods trade deficit of any EU member state. Yet new figures produced by the British Chambers of Commerce and DHL show confidence among exporting companies is at an all-time high and MY Export Hub believes now is the right time for Yorkshire businesses to make the leap and begin exporting.

To help you take your first step in to new markets MY Export Hub is running a trade mission between the 15th and 19th October to Latvia. With support from a market entry firm with expertise in the Baltic States, they'll take participating businesses on a four day trip with pre-arranged business meetings and attendance at the International Business Networking Conference in Riga included.

The cost of the package is £844 (plus VAT), plus an additional €100 for attending the conference.

Our Head of Policy Steven Leigh commented:

"Many companies consider the prospect of exporting a daunting proposition, yet huge opportunities await those who dare to make the leap. The International Monetary Fund predicts the Latvian economy to grow by 4.2% per year in 2013 and 2014, illustrating the significant potential for British companies who seize the initiative.

Support for international trade continues to be strengthened and at Mid Yorkshire Chamber we are doing all we can to help inexperienced exporters take their first steps in new markets. Latvia is known as the gateway between Europe and the Baltic States and represents an area with enormous opportunity for Yorkshire firms."

There will also be a free seminar running at our Lockwood offices on ‘Exploring New Opportunities in Latvia’ on 3rd September from 10:00 - 12:00, introducing companies to the business opportunities available in the Baltic States. The seminar will give an overview of key legal and business environment considerations and will illustrate how success can be achieved in this market through a case study example.
