Providing Value to Chamber Membership

Published 8th Oct 2012 by Ellie MacDonald

The Chamber's newly appointed Marketing Manager, Ellie Lyon offers her insight on the value of Chamber membership but needs your help to make it the best it can be for our local businesses.

Since taking up my new job as the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce Marketing Manager four weeks ago, I have been keen to ensure that members are receiving value for money from their membership.

In the current economic climate it is really important to ensure that businesses within Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield are receiving the support that they need and we want to make sure we listen to what our members want more (and less) of and go on to deliver a high class service.

With this in mind, I have devised a survey to encourage members past and present to offer us their views on the benefits of Chamber membership.  This went live just a few days ago and already 15 members and 2 previous member companies have given me their views and these offer some interesting insights.

One thing I would like to encourage is the use of the member directory on the front end of the website rather than hidden away in the member’s area as it currently is. By doing this we will give member companies greater visibility, increase search engine optimisation (SEO) and traffic to their websites; however I understand it is important to ensure that member company’s agree to this before it is implemented. Interestingly 87% of my respondents to the survey understand that this would give them greater benefits and are happy for us to go ahead.

I want to ensure as many Chamber members and stakeholders complete the survey as possible and so I’m offering £100 Amazon vouchers to a lucky winner which will be presented on the evening of the Chamber Annual Dinner on Thursday 25th October 2012.

Please send me your views by completing the survey, which is less than 10 questions, here.
