25 September 2012
On Tuesday 25th September from 7pm, PechaKucha Night is being taken over by MYnetwork, the Mid-Yorkshire business networking group. We’re looking for inspiring business people from Huddersfield to take part by sharing their stories, passions and personalities -- aided by the PechaKucha 20x20 format.
PechaKucha (Japanese for ‘chitchat’ and pronounced Pe-Chak-Cha) is a simple PowerPoint presentation format where you show 20 images, each for 20 seconds. The images forward automatically and you talk along to the images. After six minutes and forty seconds, your presentation is over and the next presenter begins. The format started in Japan 10 years ago and now PechaKucha Nights take place in over 500 cities worldwide – exposing the hidden stories of those places. PechaKucha Night has been running in Huddersfield at The Media Centre since 2010. You can view some examples on the PechaKucha website: http://www.pecha-kucha.org/presentations/
We would like you to present and talk about any subject that you love supported by 20 images. This could be anything -- some people share their passions and show their prized collections of Nana Mouskuri records, others share photos of their latest visit to a construction site or their recent holiday snaps. Some are incredibly personal, some are incredibly funny, but all are very different making each PechaKucha Night like 'a box of chocolates'.
Just one rule: YOU MUST NOT PITCH your business or products – this is not an elevator pitch session.
Are you interested? If so, here’s what to do -
1. Please reply to Brent Woods – email@example.com expressing your interest to present, with a brief outline of the subject you would like to speak on.
2. Send us your 20 images/slides by 17 September. (They will be projected, so fairly good quality please)
3. Turn up on the night!
PechaKucha x MYnetwork is presented as part of Kirklees Business Week, leading up to the Kirklees Business Conference on 27 September. MYnetwork is a collaboration between The Mid-Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, Ramsdens, Smiles, The Media Centre
