Huddersfield Olympic Hero to Open Chamber Annual Dinner

Published 13th Sep 2012 by Ellie MacDonald

On 25th October 2012, the business community will come together at the Chamber’s annual dinner to celebrate the year’s achievements and enjoy a line-up of fascinating and entertaining speakers.

The Chamber is honoured to have secured double-Olympic Gold Medallist and local lad Ed Clancy as its Principal Speaker and Crispin Simon, Managing Director of UK Trade & Investment as its Keynote Business Speaker.

Ed Clancy is one of the many Olympic Athletes to have put Yorkshire on the map at this year’s Games. Having won gold and bronze at London 2012 on top of similar success in Beijing, Ed has also been crowned world champion.  He is a local hero and, in addition to his recent civic reception, the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce is delighted to welcome him back to Huddersfield once again, this time on behalf of the business community.

Chamber Executive Director, Andrew Choi, said: “Howard Webb was an outstanding speaker for us last year and so we put a lot of thought into how we could follow a World Cup Final referee.  When Ed led the GB Cycling team to gold we re-arranged our speaker line up straight away.  It will be great for the business community to honour his achievements at our annual showcase.”

Alfie Moore will provide after dinner entertainment as the comic ex-cop who featured on ITV1’s ‘Show me the funny’ and recently kicked off his UK tour, having played at Huddersfield’s Syngenta Cellar back in June.

The Chamber Annual Dinner will be held on Thursday 25th October 2012 at The Cedar Court Hotel, Ainley Top, Huddersfield. It is open to our members and non-members and the dress code is strictly black tie.

Tickets are priced at £50.00 (+VAT) for members and £65.00 (+VAT) for non-members.

To secure your place at this exciting event, please book before 1st October 2012  by contacting Tracy Smith on 01924 311607 or email tracy.smith@mycci.co.uk
