The British Expertise Team are delighted to announce that they will be leading two UKTI construction sector missions to Libya and Brazil this October.

Dear Members,

The British Expertise Team are delighted to announce that they will be leading two UKTI construction sector missions to Libya and Brazil this October.

Libya: 1-4 October

This mission is held at a crucial time for Libya, with the imminent new Government anticipated to issue important tenders. This is your opportunity to hear these opportunities first-hand.
The programme coincides with the EU/ Libya Construction summit , which presents a valuable opportunity to meet key representatives in the Libyan Government and learn about national construction initiatives and development plans. The post-conflict reconstruction programme in Libya is likely to be a large investment over the next decade. This is an opportunity to identify business opportunities and build productive long-term relationships.

UK companies will have a programme of group meetings arranged for them with key figures from the Libyan Government and a reception will be hosted by the British Embassy in Tripoli. In addition Turkish contractors have been invited to Tripoli to meet with UK companies and discuss scope for collaboration on future projects in Libya.

The UK Trade & Investment Events Team will manage all your in market logistics and will ensure that appropriate security is put in place for the mission.

Brazil: 22-26 October

This is an opportunity to participate in a high profile mission programme to meet top decision makers in two key development centres. You will hear the announcement of some major infrastructure development projects.

UK Trade & Investment is planning a high profile mission programme to two key centres for development – Brasília and Recife (2014 FIFA World Cup host cities). The UK delegation will comprise an engaging showcase for the UK’s strength in sustainable design and construction solutions for residential and commercial buildings, hotels and sports buildings, project design, planning and facility management, master planning, innovative building systems and products, urban regeneration and infrastructure and services, smart devices for the built environment (energy efficiency, integrated intelligent systems).

This mission will focus on two high profile seminars, which will attract 100 key local decision makers in Brazil to hear about UK capabilities. In addition the mission will also include receptions, country briefings, site visits and meetings with Government officials and private sector companies. Most of the construction projects presented are in their initial phases and this is an important time to forge relations with key people both in the Ministries/ Government and project owners and developers.

Note: The economy of the State of Pernambuco, of which Recife is the capital has out-paced the expansion of the country as a whole over the last few years, with GDP growth rates amongst the highest in the world. This is triggering significant investment in infrastructure – not least in the residential accommodation sector.
