Kirklees Economic Strategy: Business Forum

When? Friday 26th October 2018 07:00 - 09:00

Where? Manor House Lindley, 1 Lidget Street, Huddersfield, HD3 3JB

An opportunity for businesses to influence priorities and plans for action in Kirklees.

Over the coming months, Kirklees Council is carrying out a refresh of the Kirklees Economic Strategy. This will be focused on ensuring that the strategy responds to current and future challenges and opportunities in Kirklees, and is owned and delivered by partners across the district – reflecting shared ambitions and priorities, and organisational roles and commitments.

Kirklees Council are now undertaking a programme of consultation to inform the strategy’s development and are running a series of workshop events as part of that to ensure that stakeholders are directly engaged in the process of shaping the refreshed strategy and its priorities.

The Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce are working in partnership with Kirklees Council to engage businesses in this process. As such, we would like to invite you to participate in this business forum, the details of which are shown below. Your input will help Kirklees Council to further understand business perspectives and priorities around issues such as:

  • Boosting productivity, innovation, enterprise, exports and international trade.
  • Driving uptake of skills at all levels, including those needed for leadership and management.
  • Ensuring the right physical infrastructure to support business growth for example around business premises and sites in the Kirklees district.

The session is designed to be interactive, so after a short introduction to set the context, a facilitated discussion will take place to gather your views. This will include; what the ambition should be, what the priorities and opportunities are, and what needs to happen or change in order to make progress.
