Award win for Design and Brand Agency

A Design and Brand Agency in Huddersfield has been named Business of the Month in a competition run by Eaton Smith Solicitors to recognise local talent.
The Engine Room Design Co. Ltd was founded in 2001 by co-directors Darren Evans and Helen Whitehead. The Engine Room are an experienced team of graphic designers, strategists, marketers and brand consultants who create projects, identities and campaigns that get their clients noticed.
From their base in Huddersfield, they have grown a UK-wide client base encompassing London, the Midlands and the North East. They have also recently expanded into the export market with the addition of Washington DC based Educational software specialists, Blackboard Inc. The Engine Room have clients across a wide range of sectors, with particular specialism across financial, medical and manufacturing.
Everyone at The Engine Room lives within the local area and they are very proud of the town, its heritage and economic well-being. Their corporate literature highlights the town’s creative focus and they encourage clients to the town to visit their premises. They are also firm believers in buying locally with many of their suppliers residing in Huddersfield. As part of their growth plans they have recently taken on extra staff and employed a Marketing undergraduate from the University of Huddersfield on a 12 month placement.
The Engine Room were recognised for their business excellence when accepted as a member of the Design Business Association (DBA), which exists to promote professional practice within the design industry and champion the effective use of design.
The judging panel felt that The Engine Room should be commended for creating a dynamic, modern business with a highly motivated and skilled workforce and, championing their roots within the Yorkshire region.
Creative Director, Darren Evans, said: It was particularly great for The Engine Room to receive this award at this time as it ties in with celebrating our first 10 years as a company. It’s always nice when companies can be recognised for their achievements, abilities and work ethic. We are proud to be a born and bred Yorkshire organisation and are continuing the campaign to put Huddersfield on the map as a creative town.
The Business of the Month Award is run in association with Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce and UKTI. It is open to firms in Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield.
