2 Day Refresher First Aid at Work Re-qualifying course delivering a Card of Competence that is valid for three years

This is a highly participative training course delivered by first aid practitioners with many years experience in this highly specialised field.  It is targeted at qualified First Aiders who hold a valid Statutory Certificate.

Course Contents:

 Principles and practice of first aid
 Resuscitation
 Control of bleeding
 Treatment of shock
 Treatment of unconscious patients
 Treatment of burns and scalds
 Dealing with poisons
 Injuries to bones, joints and ligaments
 Immobilisation and transportation of casualties
 Treatment of asphyxia
 Eye irrigation
 Personal hygiene and infection control
 Recognition of common illnesses
 Miscellaneous conditions
 Record keeping and simple documentation
 First aid box – contents and use

HSE now recommend a yearly 3 hour skills update after attendance on this course, followed by a repeat of the course at the end of the 3rd year.
